Meet Sonia

What attracted you to work at HT?

HT is going to give me the hands on experience I now need since doing Certificate  II and IV in Community Services and also IPROWD ( Indigenous Police Recruitment our Way Delivery), especially assisting people who are facing homelessness and DFV and help me gain the knowledge and confidence to assist the community and tenants on a whole new level than I have previously experienced.

How did you find your first day?

My first day was great, it was comforting to walk into a workplace and feel welcomed and accepted. It is very positive environment . Never have I experienced such a friendly environment.

Have you felt supported?

I have felt so supported in the way of guidance, empathy and compassion everyone has shown. Also they check in with you, or pick up on the bad day vibes.

It is the little things, bringing me cake whilst on class. They are very thoughtful.

Tell us a little about your previous work experience?

Previously I worked as a retail assistance in a supermarket, working with the public and such a diverse community I got to get an insight into to what people go through as they would at times open up to me and I built such a good rapport with them they felt comfortable in opening up.

What is one of your best days

I cannot pick a best day as everyday has been a positive one even on a bad day. There is always an event to be celebrated at HT, the inclusiveness is so good to see, and rewarding .
