Housing Trust Golf Day Huge Success

Wollongong Golf Club provided a stunning backdrop for the inaugural Housing Trust Golf Day. The event raised funds for the Tylah West Education Scholarships to support Housing Trust tenants with the costs of education or entering employment.

The successful event saw 120 golfers take the field with $22,600 raised from sponsorships, raffles, auctions and donations.

CEO Michele Adair provided golfers the opportunity to take one of her drives on the 6th hole for a $20 donation raising more than $1,000.

To ensure the event was inclusive Housing Trust encouraged teams to include at least one woman so it was great to see a large number of female players take the field, including two all women teams and a female PGA golfer.

At the after game luncheon participants saw first-hand how their contributions would make a difference with Tylah West Education Scholarship recipient Jungrae Hong delivering a moving speech about the impact the scholarship has had on her life.

A Volkswagon Polo was on offer on the 5th hole for a lucky golfer who managed a hole in one, unfortunately the prize didn’t go off this year. However there was some great golf played by novices and experts alike.

Sponsors and players have already begun to sign up for the 2022 event to be held on May 27.
