Housing Trust to position for Growth

The Board of leading Illawarra community organisation Housing Trust has announced its growth strategy is being supported by a new leadership structure effective 1 July 2024.

Current CEO Michele Adair will transition to a new role as Managing Director focusing on portfolio growth, policy and governance. Amanda Winks, who was promoted from Chief Housing Officer to Chief Operating Officer in June 2020, will take over as CEO. Prior to joining Housing Trust, Ms Winks was the Manager of Strategic Projects & Property for Cancer Council NSW and she worked in the private property industry with Colliers International and Raine & Horne for over 12 years.

In announcing the new structure Roy Rogers, Chair of the Housing Trust Board, said the opportunities arising from policy reform and unprecedent levels of government investment to address the housing crisis means the organisation needs to grow too. “This new structure provides additional capacity without any of the disruption or risk often associated with a change of CEO. The transition will be seamless for our staff, customers and community partners.” said Mr Rogers.

Michele Adair has led Housing Trust through a period of significant growth, earning numerous awards and achievements. In her new role, she will continue to drive portfolio growth, building the homes that are desperately needed across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.

“Being CEO of Housing Trust has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’m thrilled to be handing-over to Amanda and able to keep doing what I love.” said Ms Adair.

Amanda Winks, a key part of Housing Trust’s success for the last six years, is well-prepared to lead the organisation. She has Acted as CEO on numerous occasions and has the values, experience and vision needed to lead Housing Trust as it adapts to a rapidly evolving landscape.

“It’s a privilege to step into the role of CEO, working with a team of dedicated professionals to deliver safe, secure and affordable homes for the people in our local community. There’s never been a time of greater need, or greater opportunity for us to deliver on our mission of a decent home for everyone.” said Ms Winks.

“Michele has been an exceptional leader. We are grateful for her transformative stewardship of Housing Trust over the past seven years. Amanda’s leadership and contributions are equally impressive and undeniable. She deftly balances property and business expertise with a deep connection to our customers and the challenging work of our frontline staff.” said Roy Rogers.

This leadership change positions Housing Trust to take full advantage of new opportunities and continue its important work of providing social and affordable housing across the region.
