The Housing Trust welcomes chance to support more people

Illawarra’s largest community housing provider, the Housing Trust, welcomes the announcement of the transfer of 18,000 public housing properties in NSW.  With over 30 years of experience in providing quality housing and property management services, the Housing Trust is in a strong position to grow and provide excellent levels of service to more tenants.

Joan Ferguson, CEO of the Housing Trust, said “We are a confident and capable organisation that can certainly deliver the best possible outcomes for social housing tenants. We have outstanding customer satisfaction results showing 92% of tenants are satisfied with our overall service and 95% are happy to recommend us to family and friends.”

The Minister for Social Housing, Brad Hazzard, said that “Community housing has shown it is innovative and can help vulnerable tenants to achieve positive outcomes such as securing employment and education.”

The Housing Trust has a strong focus on social outcomes with 88% of tenants saying that their lives have improved since living in a Housing Trust property. A tenant, Elicia, said “I really love the Housing Trust as it has helped me gain my independence back. My life has changed now because I live closer to my friends and my work.”

Ms Ferguson said that the Housing Trust team is ready for this opportunity. Staff are diverse, experienced and forward thinking and come from all sectors – Private, Public and Not-for-Profit. A collaborative approach is fundamental to all areas of the business.

While it is disappointing that the Illawarra region has not been selected as an area for transfer, the Housing Trust has the experience to embrace this landmark opportunity
