Tylah West was a young Indigenous trainee at the Housing Trust (HT). Tylah sadly passed away in June 2015. Tylah was an inspiring young woman that excelled at her job, took every opportunity to create a brighter future and her growth and transformation was acknowledge by all that worked with her. This scholarship represents Tylah’s strength, her development and growth while working at the Housing Trust.


The Tylah West Education Scholarships are available to:

  • Housing Trust tenants or an approved household member

We provide consideration to tenants experiencing a wide range of educational disadvantages including but not limited to:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • carer responsibilities
  • physical disabilities
  • mental health
  • CALD background
  • previous homelessness
  • financial hardship
  • long-term or recurrent medical conditions or illnesses
  • refugee status
  • regional or remote disadvantage
  • sole parent responsibilities
  • a household of more than three children
  • returning to work after long absence
  • trauma

The Tylah West Education Scholarships aim is to maximise the participation of our tenants in education, training and employment, assisting them to break the cycle of poverty and exit social and affordable housing.

By supporting our tenants and their children to complete their education and training and join the workforce, the Tylah West Education Scholarship paves the way by creating opportunities for a brighter future.  $25,000 will be available for the 2019 scholarship recipients.
